In early 2026, the iPhone 4 and 4S, released over 15 years ago, unexpectedly went viral. Data from second-hand platforms shows that iPhone 4S orders exceeded 100,000 units in 30 days, with prices as low as $7.60.
The trend stems from the "retro CCD camera wave" on TikTok and Xiaohongshu—users are drawn to its low-pixel, grainy photo, using it as a vintage camera or game console.
However, security experts warn: The iPhone 4 only supports iOS 7.1.2, which has not received security updates for a decade.
Logging into Apple ID or connecting to the internet poses high data breach risks. It is recommended to use it offline only and transfer photos via cable
